Is the e-commerce model changing or dying?

Much effort has been spent by businesses, especially smaller brands, on creating online stores using platforms such as Shopify. This has led to a very crowded marketplace where shops are competing to be noticed and stand out in a vast digital retail landscape.

Has the lower barrier to entry in creating an online store now created so many stores and business that the consumer isn’t sure which one to choose from?

Is there an advantage in having a physical retail store?

After all, of the most mundane shopping tasks that I do (groceries), I still prefer to visit a supermarket rather than order online.
